AlMusalla Prize

AlMusalla Prize required a digital platform that could reflect the cultural and architectural significance of the initiative while supporting a global audience. The challenge was to create an experience that balanced rich visual storytelling with clarity of information. We approached the project in two phases, first launching a focused landing page to establish early presence, followed by a full website designed and developed on Statamic. The platform was built to showcase imagery, communicate the competition’s vision, and scale as the initiative evolved.

The result is a refined, content-driven experience that supports both storytelling and functionality.

The AlMusalla Prize is an international architectural prize launched by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation to explore the future of contemporary prayer spaces in the Muslim world. Centred around innovation, sustainability, and cultural identity, the prize invites architects, artists, and engineers to design modular musallas that reinterpret Islamic architecture for modern communities. Presented as part of the Islamic Arts Biennale, the initiative celebrates design that bridges spirituality, craftsmanship, and public experience.

Designing for Cultural Significance

Working on a project rooted in Islamic architectural heritage required a careful balance between modern digital design and cultural sensitivity. The platform needed to respect the depth and meaning behind the initiative while remaining accessible to a global audience. We focused on creating a clean, minimal interface that allowed content and imagery to lead, ensuring the experience felt considered and intentional rather than overly designed. This approach helped maintain the integrity of the subject matter while elevating its presentation in a contemporary digital format.
