Zawaya Wa Afkar

Zawaya Wa Afkar approached 9H at a defining stage in its evolution. While the initiative carried strong intellectual and cultural value, its visual presence did not yet reflect the prestige or institutional credibility required within the regional and international art landscape.

Our role was to transform the platform from a conceptual initiative into a recognisable cultural institution through a comprehensive bilingual branding system. This included strategic identity development, visual storytelling, typography systems, social frameworks, and brand guidelines.

Building Institutional Credibility

In the cultural sector, perception plays a critical role in establishing authority and trust. Zawaya Wa Afkar needed more than a visual refresh,  it required a complete institutional identity capable of standing alongside leading regional and international cultural platforms.

We approached the project by creating a cohesive branding system rooted in sophistication, clarity, and cultural relevance. Through carefully developed typography, bilingual structures, and refined visual direction, the initiative evolved from an abstract concept into a credible and recognisable institution with a clear market presence.

Balancing Cultural Heritage with Global Relevance

One of the project’s core challenges was creating a brand that felt deeply connected to Saudi cultural identity while remaining internationally relevant and still being connected to visually as an initiative of the visual arts commission.

The visual language was designed to balance minimalism with cultural depth, allowing the brand to communicate with authority across local and global audiences. By combining bilingual design systems, considered typography, and structured storytelling frameworks, we developed an identity that feels timelessly Saudi while operating seamlessly within the international cultural landscape.

Designing Systems for Long-Term Scalability

Beyond aesthetics, the project focused heavily on usability and scalability. Zawaya Wa Afkar required a flexible ecosystem that could support future events, discussions, digital content, and institutional growth without compromising consistency.

To achieve this, we developed a structured toolkit including presentation templates, social frameworks, email systems, and comprehensive brand guidelines. This created a scalable foundation that empowers internal teams to maintain brand integrity across every touchpoint while significantly reducing creative and operational lead times.

Summary

The Zawaya Wa Afkar project reflects our approach to building brands that operate as complete systems rather than isolated identities. Through strategy, storytelling, and structured design execution, we developed a bilingual visual ecosystem capable of supporting both institutional credibility and long-term scalability.

The outcome is a sophisticated cultural brand that bridges local heritage with international relevance while enabling consistent communication across every platform and audience touchpoint.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful branding can transform abstract cultural initiatives into respected institutions with the clarity, flexibility, and authority needed to grow within global cultural conversations.
